Along Emiel Vanderveldestraat in Willebroek, we recently acquired a former factory site that served an industrial purpose within the municipality for many years. The site is in an easily accessible location, embedded in an existing residential area and surrounded by greenery. Today, the site is a pivotal point between past and future, a place with potential to evolve into a liveable, sustainable residential environment.
“This project reflects a broader contemporary urban planning movement: obsolete industrial estates, which once organically emerged in residential areas, are making way for quality residential developments," says Kevin from the ground management team at Potrell. By carefully dismantling, rehabilitating and thoughtfully redeveloping these sites, we not only create additional housing supply, but also increase the quality of life at the heart of cities and towns.
This is a necessary and forward-looking form of development, in which Potrell's densification approach goes hand in hand with space, tranquillity and greenery. As a modern developer, we assume our role in this with vision and responsibility.
The site in Willebroek is a textbook example of this forward-looking development vision. We have now obtained planning permission for 25 homes, paving the way for a diverse residential project. Here, contemporary architecture is central, with an eye for energy efficiency and a harmonious integration into the existing neighbourhood. "A great example of how we put our core values of quality, liveability and sustainability into practice," Kevin explains.
Under construction
After seven houses were immediately put up for sale in the first phase, phase two is now starting. This new phase includes the houses in the middle section, characterised by their flat roofs.
Each house has a thoughtful layout to make the best use of all spaces. Thus, all the homes have bright living spaces and a separate storage room. Moreover, there are full floors with three or four bedrooms, an attic space that could be converted and a carport. The gardens have low-maintenance surfaces with varying orientations.
Our approach
At Potrell, we are fully committed to redevelopment. We look at every piece of land we acquire as a link in a bigger picture: how can we revitalise this parcel of land, with a view to both the environment and the future? In doing so, we ensure a professional, transparent approach, from the first permit to the last detail of execution. Our experienced team strives for a quality result that is balanced and sustainable every time.
